Lies, arson, murder – that’s a lot of mayhem for art historian Joss Erickson to handle. The legend of the “Frenchman’s Gold” rumored to be cached on her dad’s Montana ranch has stirred the unsavory interest of an ex-con, bikers, and the Feds. She finds an ally in Buck, the tough, but decidedly savory, overseer at the ranch. Together they might put a stop to the deadly shenanigans.

Can she trust him? Buck may be after the gold for himself. Joss has few options, and this bad-boy may be her last best chance. In the meantime, she’s enjoying the ride.

Vanessa Lennox's romance novel "Breaking the Bad Boy" embroils Joss and Buck in passion, danger, and the struggle to possess a legendary treasure in Montana's Big Sky Country.

Prepare to have to suspend all rational thought. The heroine is wanted by every man who even glances her way. It turns half of them into would-be rapists. SMH This went on throughout the entire book. I think I was at 46% and we had already met five different men who were in love/lust with her. And it continued and continued and continued all the way to the end.

I was utterly bored.

The mystery portion of the book was okay and semi-believable...for a while. And then that went to hell as well. Betraying, murdering mothers that our leading man--well nevermind that could be considered a spoiler. But honestly, there was a point I was just reading to see what other completely unreal things the author could come up with. The one redeeming quality of this book was the hero. He was sexy and protective and competent. His jealousy was a little over the top, but with every man in the world panting after the heroine, I could almost understand that.

Three stars for the sheer creativity it must have taken to write something so out of the realm of possibility that it kept me reading.

Breaking the Bad Boy edition by Vanessa Lennox Romance eBooks Reviews

I really liked the humor that was woven between the 2 characters. Loved all the action. The only thing I found a bit hard to swallow was how this woman could be SO attractive men would have no control over themselves.

Other than that very small point (which unfortunately takes up a lot of the book), I really enjoyed the story. Two lovers that were simply made for each other is something every woman dreams of. I'd definitely be up for reading more of Ms. Lennox's work.

Being a huge fan of historical romances, it pleased me to read this modern American Indian claiming his white woman.
The title and the cover of this book in NO WAY describes this book! I giggled and teared up sometimes on the same page. Vanessa Lennox definitely knows how to write a book that is romance, mystery and comical all in one. Even parts of it I thought it was paranormal as well. This is one of those romance books that the characters first meet and you know it's going to be good. Joss was going home to be with her father, who just had a heart attack. Buck was the ranch boss, who by chance picked her up along side the road after she had three flat tires. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That sums up their relationship and trials until they got married. They bantered back and forth, good and bad. Being shot, attacked by a bear, kidnapped and stabbed were all very ugly. These two were surely soul mates and Vanessa definitely got that across. This was truly an enjoyable book!
Even when you grant that an action-romance requires action, this is one of the most ridiculous books I've read in a while. After two bear attacks, a stabbing, severe burns, a gun shot wound, and a septic infection, I found myself wondering more about Joss and Buck's insurance plans than their love lives.

Joss is a beautiful museum exhibit coordinator. We know she's beautiful because the majority of the men who come into contact with her attempt to sexually assault her, including her ex-boyfriend's father, random Navajo bikers, assorted henchmen, and her father's employees. There are no points in the book where she is free from the threat of sexual assault (except for her frequent hospitalizations). Even in a genre that thrives on sexual peril, this felt a bit . . . over-the-top, especially when people began following her across the country in order to have a chance at raping her.

There is some Spanish gold, a long-lost evil mother, undercover FBI agents, a recounting of a major art theft, abusive parents, the disclosure that the FBI is actually run by a 90-year-old British knight, slit throats, murdered kids, guys getting their brains dashed out with frying pans, murdered kids, Navajo wedding ceremonies, spirit animals, lusty governors, rock stars, and extralegal interrogation -- I fear Lennox may never write another book because of everything she crammed into this one.

Wait -- do I actually fear that? For everything this book is packed with, it's actually kind of dull, because nothing really connects. Joss is never more than what she is at the beginning -- a tall beautiful woman who inspires men to become ravening beasts and Buck is never more than the generic bad boy going after the cute girl, even after it turns out that he has a trust fund. The plot bounces them around like pinballs but, in the end, can't distract from the essential emptiness.
This book rolls from art history, treasure, bears, bad guys to real heroes. It's got it all including a fiesty heroine and of course a tall, dark and handsome cowboy.
Did l enjoy it? Yes of course but l gotta say lm glad our heroine isn't my friend- she is just too perfect and just a little annoying.
Accept that's it's an action packed sexy ride and enjoy it for what it is.
I loved this book. It was not at all what I was expecting. She is the rancher's daughter, grown and living in Denver. She gets the call that her father, in Montana, has had a heart attack and she leaves to be with him. Her rental car gets 3 flats and she sets out to walk. Along comes a sexy cowboy and gives her a lift. Turns out he is the foreman for her dad and he is something else. If it had been me, I would have given it up right then!!! What a hero. However, she has a lot more control. From the very first you can tell something is going on.

There are bad guys, adventure, mystery, etc. I loved the heroine's strength. She took nothing off of all around her. She was also a very good shot and it came in handy when she needed it. I LOVED the way she shot the bad guys. There were a lot of secrets to be told and it seems as tho everyone had their share.

It was a great story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend if you like a cowboy hero, sexy love scenes, and HEA. Good read.
